China Super Computer Production Dominance
The United States is home to the world's fastest supercomputer. However, the country that produces computers is actually the most in China.
Quoted from CNBC on Wednesday (27/06/2018), based on a list of the 500 fastest super computers in the world, Chinese companies and governments are the most productive producers.
Of the 500 super computers on the list, 206 of them are from China. While companies and the US government to design and build 124 super computers are included in the list.
Three Chinese companies also occupy the top five positions of super computer manufacturers. The three companies are Lenovo in the first position, Inspur in third position, and Sugon in fifth position.
The list also confirms the US as the owner of the world's fastest super computer. Summit, a supercomputer built by IBM for the US Department of Energy, defeated defending champion Sunway TaihuLight.
Previously indeed super computer production is always dominated US. However, two years ago China began to overtake the US position and dominate the production of super computers in 2018.
The development of super computers in China itself only started a decade ago. Initially, they absorb foreign technology, but slowly they develop their own technology.
Previous super computers have limited use in national laboratories to run government projects. Currently, more than half the super computers on the list are used by companies.
